Mrs. Hancock's Kindergarten Class

Welcome to kindergarten! I am looking forward to an exciting year together. We have so much to learn this year, and I can't wait to get started.

During the year, we will review the letters of the alphabet, learn the sound each letter makes, and how to form the letter.  Then we will combine letters to begin writing words and stories.

We will also learn many new words (sight words or high frequency words) that are used in our reading. We read every day! Students will learn to predict and respond to questions about different stories and share that knowledge with others.

In math, we begin learning our numbers! We will learn to sort, graph, and record information in various ways. By the end of the year, we will be able to count to 120; add and subtract numbers.

In science and social studies, we learn all about the world around us. Each season brings changes to our environment that we will explore. We will learn about our traditions and our communities.
